Happy Birthday, Elvis!
I cannot really say that I am a fan (oh, stop your booing!) but I can appreciate his music. My dad loves the guy so I grew up listening to quite a bit of it.
Anywho...in honor of this music legend's birthday some of the girls over at Shimelle's Blogging for Scrapbookers class decided to put together a music & lyrics blog.
And I am participating!
But, oops...with everything that I have had going on lately I had forgotten to put together a layout.
(it is okay to boo me here...)
But thanks to Helen, who sent me the reminder, I was able to whip together a page.
Because it is 2:00am right now and I am still working on my final project for my grad class, I decided to give digital a whirl again.
Not knowing photoshop, again.
But I made do, again.
This page is dedicated to my mom, who I lost last month. This is my first page about her since I found out that she couldn't fight any longer and cancer won the battle.
I hate cancer.
There are so many songs that make me think of her when I hear them, but there is one in particular that I listened to several times in the days and weeks after she passed away.
When I hear the song "It Will Be Me" by Melissa Etheridge, I always think of her.
It is comforting to think that she is still here, watching over me and loving me.
That even though she is not here in person, she is there in the subtleties of life, with me always.
This song communicates that for me.
This page might be simple, but it is for her.
And for everyone else who has ever lost someone they love.
Be sure to visit these ladies who are also participating in this challenge today, their picks will be sure to get your toes tapping and creativity flowing!

I am sorry for your loss.
and it's a lovely LO for your mom.
simple, touching, beautiful.
thank you for sharing (:
oh i am so impressed with your ability to talk so opennly about your mum so soon after she passed away and i am sorry for her passing. music i have found often says what we are feeling at times when we are lost for words. these lyrics are truly beautiful and if they say that much about your mum she was a truly spectacular person.
thank you for sharing such an intimate and profound story and LO.

What a wonderful and personal layout, and a great twist on the "music" theme. I'm sorry for your loss. I almost lost my mom to cancer 5 years ago. My prayers are with you as you heal.
